Yes No Tarot – An Introduction
The following post is the re-published introduction from Yes No Tarot: How To Use Tarot To Make Decisions.
We all make thousands of decisions every day, and sometimes we need help to make some of those choices.
Some of us need help with the little decisions like what to wear today, what to watch tonight, what to eat, what to play. We google for answers; we consult with our family, or rely on algorithmic recommendations. Even the little decisions can have a big impact. What you eat affects your health and daily functioning. What to wear affects the way you feel that day, the way others perceive you. What you watch on TV affects the way you feel and think, and maybe that too of your family.
Then we have the major decisions, the Big Themes most of us think of when it comes to making a decision that requires guidance. Big choices like career paths, financial options, and our romantic lives. Which house should you buy? Which school should you send your children to? Should you even have children in the first place? The list goes on. These are the major players in decision-making, and they are so big because they are typically made up of countless smaller decisions, and every one of those points has its own wide-ranging impact.
Big or small, life changing for years or life changing for minutes, making decisions can be tricky.
Tarot can unstick some of this trickiness, and guide your decision-making process so that you are always making the best choices in a harmonious balance of rational logic, intuition, and spirit.
Tarot can help you arrive at quick and simple answers to life’s questions, big or small. Tarot can also help unpack and untangle enormous decisions that we might grapple with for days, perhaps even years.
The goal of this book is to help you become more skilled at deciding in your mind and your heart, and teaching you how to use the wisdom of tarot cards to guide you through this process. As such, we explore the nature of decision-making in a logical, grounded manner, and we also look at making decisions guided by a higher place of intuition and spirit.
We explore how tarot can be a valuable tool in making decisions that are right for you in every sphere of who you are, and how you show up in the world.
Suggested tarot spreads are offered throughout this book, and you can find more spreads in the final section. Most spreads are paired with diagrams. These layouts have been crafted with symbolic meaning in mind. Performing these card spreads can enhance the sense of ritual and creative connection in your readings. However, please note that in all spreads, the suggested layouts are presented as optional guides. You have the freedom to lay your cards in whatever way feels most natural to you. Whether that involves an intricate pattern or a straight line, or any other arrangement, embrace your choices wholeheartedly.
Similarly, some spreads are accompanied by introductory statements providing relevant context and guidance. These statements are subjective, aiming to assist your understanding of the intention behind each spread’s development. If any words don’t mesh with your beliefs, values, or experiences, lean into the power of your own opinions. As always, you are your own best guide.
